Free Prenatal & Parenting Classes

 

The Gallatin City-County Health Department offers FREE parenting classes each month, including:

 

Breastfeeding

This class is designed to help new mothers establish and maintain a breastfeeding routine that works for both them and their child. The class also addresses:

  • Helpful tips & techniques
  • The benefits of breastfeeding for mother and child
  • Common questions and concerns
  • Community resources

 

Are You Ready for Labor & Delivery

This class is designed to help pregnant women and their partners understand more about what to expect on the day of birth. This includes:

  • Signs and stages of labor
  • Positioning & relaxation
  • Hospital routines
  • Community resources

 

Enjoying Your Newborn

Learn how to care for and become more comfortable with having a newborn at home. This class includes:

  • Explanations of newborn characteristics
  • The physical and emotional needs of mother and child
  • Tip to guide you through the baby’s development
  • Community resources

 

Working & Breastfeeding

Learn how to prepare for returning to the work force while breastfeeding your baby. Topics include:

  • How to adequately prepare for your return to work
  • How to choose a breast pump
  • Pumping techniques
  • Talking to your employer and knowing your rights
  • Maintaining your supply and storage
  • Feeding guidelines

 

All classes are held at the Gallatin City-County Health Department located at 215 W. Mendenhall in Bozeman. To register for a class or for more information, please call (406) 582-3100.
