The Gallatin City-County Health Department conducts two types of inspections of registered daycare centers (those with more than 12 children) annually, through two different departments. These include:
Public Health Inspection
A public health inspection through the Human Services Department. These inspections include a visit by a public health nurse, utilizing the Administrative Rules of Montana, who reviews and inspects the following:
• Child Immunizations
• Staff Immunizations
• Health Supervision and Health Maintenance Activities and Policies
• Medication Administration Policies and Medication Storage
• First Aid Policies and Procedures
• Nutritional Guidelines
To schedule, contact The Gallatin City-County Health Department, Human Services (406) 582-3100.
Environmental Health Inspection
An Environmental Health inspection is also conducted by a Registered Sanitarian for general sanitation and food safety.
Daycare facility approvals are owner and site specific, and Environmental Health Services needs to be contacted in the event of an ownership or location change. A plan review may be required for a new facility or the remodel/expansion of an existing facility. This includes:
• Submitting a complete plan review packet with appropriate fees
• Scheduling a pre-opening inspection upon approval of plans
To schedule, contact The Gallatin City-County Health Department, Environmental Health Services (406) 582-3120.
